What is the approach™-why work with me?

This career is a beast. It can be overwhelming. It can be demoralizing. It can feel solitary and lonely at times. That's where The Approach™ comes in. It is a comprehensive system that allows actors to tackle multiple elements, from craft, to business, to mindset.

The Approach™ - helping actors navigate the industry mountain.

As a professional actor and member of SAG-AFTRA for over two decades, an elected member of the Atlanta SAG-AFTRA board, and a chair for a local committee ('22-'24), I've seen this business from all angles, and experienced both successful periods and lean times.

My work has allowed me to perform on HBO, CBS, FOX, the CW, Apple+, AMC, Netflix, BET+, NatGeo, WGN, USA, OWN and more, and for Sony, Warner Bros, Universal, to name a few, and most recently I have been given the honor of bringing to life a comic book legend first in print 80 years ago and now on Stargirl on the CW.

As an actor, I've worked opposite and learned from some of the very best in the business, including an Oscar winner, a three time Oscar nominee, a two time Oscar nominee and have been directed by a five time Oscar winner. This work is directly opposite the leads, as opposed to large ensembles. In addition, I've worked opposite winners of five Golden Globes, five SAG Awards, four Emmys, and a Tony.

Here's the thing. I'm not famous. I'm not a millionaire. I'm a regular, working, union actor. I can relate to everything you've gone through, are going through, and will go through in your journey as an artist because I've been there, too.

I'm in the trenches day in and day out, auditioning and grinding. Just like you.
I work hard on my training, my materials, and my mind set. Just like you.
I experience highs and lows, have lots of near misses and close calls, and have long stretches between bookings.  Just like you.

What I've learned in my time as a hard working, journeyman actor is that integrity is important, relationships are paramount, and learning never stops. Over time, I have created and refined a practical technique to being a professional actor that can help any actor of any experience level get better at auditions, whether they are self-tape or in person, whether they are for a two line co-star, or a series regular. In addition, it will help actors with the business and the mental side of the industry.

Craft is addressed through The Bootcamp 2.0, which includes The Audition Preparation Guide and virtual on-camera classes when they are offered, along with various educational opportunities.

Business is tackled, in part, via Actor Finances, a comprehensive course allowing actors to feel good about their financial situation, no matter where they are on their journey. The new DECODE series also tackles various elements vital for an actor’s success.

Mindset
is discussed in ALL courses. Mental health is critical for actors. It is something that must be worked on, developed, enhanced, and given as much credence as craft and business, in my opinion. There’s far too much rejection in this industry and with life in general. We all know actors who have left the business because of a lack of sustainable mindset practices.

All courses are included as part of the year-long community, The Mastermind Group.

The Bootcamp 2.0 is a course designed to improve your script analysis understanding and skills, to beef up your audition technique, and to help your self-tape confidence soar. This isn't a craft of acting technique, but rather a nuts and bolts script analysis, character development, and auditioning process technique. The Audition Preparation Guide is the touchstone process I use for every audition that allows me to feel confident in my work and more importantly, feel confident every time I step on set opposite A-listers, on sets with huge budgets, in an ensemble or in an intimate scene with one other actor. It was created after a decade of teaching and coaching, through sharing my tips, tricks, mistakes, and growth, as an organic part of classes and audition coaching. Click HERE to learn more and to sign up. It is a prerequisite to anyone wishing to take a virtual on-camera course with me.

I look forward to connecting and working with you in any number of ways, based on what course(s) and avenues work for you. Also, I’ll occasionally be an invited guest teacher, such as at the Houde School in Cleveland, OH, and there’s my in person home, Drama Inc., in Atlanta. Let’s do this!
